Zero Zone is a manufacturer of reach-in and open refrigerated and frozen food display cases as well as the refrigeration systems that work behind the scenes to cool the cases, keeping the food fresh! We also make powerful industrial refrigeration systems for food warehousing, pharmaceuticals, and even ice rinks!

Our company is structured across 2 divisions – the Display Case Division, located in North Prairie, WI, Waukesha, WI, and Mukwonago, WI and the Refrigeration Systems Division, located in Ramsey, MN and Dyersville, IA.

What Will You Do?

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Supply Chain and Production departments to drive continuous improvement of External and Internal Quality at Zero-Zone. The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring Zero Zone meets the needs of its customers by:

  1. Qualification, monitoring and control of external suppliers
  2. Driving a quality assurance mindset through quality at the source methodology
  3. Supporting process focused quality
  4. Developing, monitoring and improving quality metrics for all internal and external suppliers and processes

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, analyze and present quality data leading to understanding of quality failures and opportunities.
  • Lead the internal CAPA process including Root Cause Analysis for internal and external quality failures.
  • Lead the SCAR process for supplier quality failures.
  • Identify and complete quality improvement projects leading to measurable results.
  • Utilize data-oriented methods to analyze supplier quality issues and drive improvements.
  • Develop good working relationships with suppliers.
  • Perform supplier assessments.
  • Act as a change agent for continually improved quality.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Production and Design Engineering to focus on critical issues related to (COQ) cost of quality.
  • Understand and utilize the business ERP System (IFS)

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Experience with LEAN and Six Sigma
  • Experience with SPC
  • Experience acting as the primary communicator with all levels of the organization respective to production and process controls; corrective and preventive action (CAPA), customer complaints, risk management and product quality improvements.
  • Intermediate-Advanced competency in Microsoft Office 365 suite (emphasis on MS Excel)

SKILLS/ABILITIES/SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Must communicate clearly in written and verbal means.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Possess interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
