What Will You Do?

The Mechanical Engineer conducts multiple engineering functions in a high pace custom manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Engineer will work with a robust engineering team to design and develop complex mechanical and electrical plans to produce refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial markets. Engineers must be able to provide technical support and troubleshooting for our onsite production team and as well as display a hands-on approach. All engineers work cross-departmentally and with customers to design industry leading products onsite with our skilled production team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the design of refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial environments including chilled water, halocarbon-based systems, Co2, and industrial ammonia refrigeration facilities
  • Ability to select, schedule, size and specify system components to include air distribution, air handling, refrigeration, piping, heat exchangers, pumps, piping, and accessories
  • Perform heat load calculations to determine facility refrigeration requirements and heat transfer and thermodynamic analysis associated with sizing and selection of refrigeration equipment, piping, and control valves
  • Review refrigeration components during manufacturing process and recommend design modifications as necessary
  • Design products and systems to meet requirements of quality, cost effectiveness, energy efficiency, customer requirements, company standards and other predetermined competitive factors
  • Work to meet design schedules and complete tasks on budgets
  • Interface and communicate with external and internal customers including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and sales/marketing personnel
  • Create new and/or revise preliminary design from objects, rough sketches or verbal or written instructions from engineers
  • Research and analyze data – such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals – to determine feasibility of design or application of products and systems
  • Communicate with the sales organization or directly with the customer about product and system design, performance and specifications
  • Coordinate with onsite manufacturing personnel to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
  • Respond to field service issues by providing solutions and support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • HVAC/Refrigeration experience is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, experience with SolidWorks is desired
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient using Windows Office
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is helpful
  • A high electro-mechanical aptitude and knowledge is preferred

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Heat and mass transfer and fluid dynamics knowledge is desired
  • Great project management, ability to plan and organize, set priorities, and manage multiple projects
  • A strong propensity for being hands-on and work closely with factory production personnel
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Accountability and resourcefulness
  • Effectively communicate with coworkers on projects

PHYSICAL & BEHAVIORAL:

  • Regularly required to stand or walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds usually from the floor to waist level, up to 20 feet away
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, usually from the floor to waist level, up to 20 feet away
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
